His Holiness Patriarch of Kyiv and All Russia-Ukraine Filaret met with Senator from Arizona, a member of the Republican Party of the United States John McCain in Washington.
Patriarch Filaret discussed with the senator McCain the socio-political situation in Ukraine, and especially the situation at the front. The patriarch reminded Senator McCain about the responsibility of the United States of America to help Ukraine protect its independence, because the United States is the guarantor of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.
His Holiness awarded Senator McCain with the Order of Saint Prince Vladimir of the 1st degree for his active position on supporting Ukraine during the events of the Euro-Majdan and the Russian occupation of the Crimea and Donbas.
